How do I backup my data?

To protect your valuable data, please make regular backups. You have 2 ways to backup TimeBiller data:

  1. Tap Tools->Backup->Create... to create a backup file. The file can then be used to restore all your TimeBiller data.
  2. Use ActiveSync backup feature to backup your whole device.

If you are planning to perform a hard reset (such as iPaq ROM upgrade), please use method 1 to backup your data to \My Documents directory. Then, copy the file to the desktop before a hard reset.

Please update your backup file after the upgrade installations to use the most current backup format.


How do I populate the drop lists?

You don't need to populate the drop lists. However, you can import a text file with each item on its own line into TimeBiller.

  1. Tap Tools->Data->Edit Drop Lists....
  2. Select the list type.
  3. Tap List->Import... and select a text file to import.

To setup clients and rates, use Tools->Setup Clients... and Tools->Setup Rates... screens.


Can I import archived data?

Yes, you can also view archived time entries on a desktop PC using TimeBiller Archive Viewer.


Can I export note in time entries?

You can export note individually by using context menu. CSV and XML exports also export the text portion of notes in time entries.


How do I add contact names from Outlook Contacts?

In the Client Setup screen:

  1. Tap the client you want to add contact(s).
  2. Tap the Import command bar button.
  3. Select "Import contacts from Contacts Application".
  4. Tap Ok to continue.
  5. Select the contact(s) and tap Ok.

How do I print the generated HTML report?

The generated HTML report can be synchronized back to the desktop using ActiveSync. Then print the report from the desktop using any browser of your choice.


When I export data in XML format, how come the European accent characters do not display correctly?

To export these characters correctly, tap Tools->Options...->Export tab and select ISO-8859-1 or UTF-8 from the Encoding drop list.
